Adama, a leading global crop protection company, announced recently that the EPA has approved changes to the label of Mastercop fungicide/bactericide that were made to help growers better protect their crops from harmful diseases. Individual state approvals are still pending.
“We are thrilled to have worked closely with growers to deliver an elevated disease control solution with Mastercop,” says Adama national sales leader Brent Marek. “They told us what was needed in a copper fungicide, and we have done our best to ensure those requests have been met with the newly EPA-approved label.
The OMRI-listed Mastercop label upgrade includes an increased rate for in-season fire blight control in apples of up to 2.5 pints per acre. Other updates include chemigation application, application to crops grown for seed, and the addition of gray mold and downy mildew to many already-labeled crops.
Unlike traditional copper fungicides, Mastercop has smaller particles, resulting in more uniform coverage that forms a barrier on the leaf surface. It coats and protects the leaves against bacterial and fungal diseases, all with less risk of phytotoxicity than other coppers on the market. The water solubility of Mastercop also prevents hassles like clogged nozzles and settling in the tank.
