UW-Madison Agricultural Research Station Field Days For 2022 Season

Summer is field day season at the UW–Madison CALS Agricultural Research Stations. Over the course of the growing season, the stations will host more than a dozen public events to share research updates and educational information with agricultural professionals, home gardeners and other interested citizens.

Below is a list of some of this season’s offerings. Events are free unless noted otherwise.

Stations will make a reasonable effort to provide accommodations for participants with disabilities when notified in advance. To request a disability accommodation, please contact ars_accommodation@cals.wisc.edu or call (608) 846-3750 ext. 3 at least 10 days in advance of the event. Efforts will be made to meet same-day requests to the extent possible.

UW Small Grains Field Day – Arlington

July 6, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Arlington Agricultural Research Station, N695 Hopkins Road, Arlington, WI

UW Potato Research Field Day – Hancock

July 7, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Hancock Agricultural Research Station, N3909 County Road V, Hancock, WI
This field day features updates of interest to the state’s potato industry on variety trials; disease, insect and weed management field experiments; and crop storage research. For more information, contact hancock@cals.wisc.edu.

UW Potato Breeding Field Day – Rhinelander

July 28, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station, 4181 Camp Bryn Afon Rd, Rhinelander, WI
This field day features presentations and tours at Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station, one of the nation’s top potato research facilities and home of UW–Madison’s potato breeding program. In addition to multiple potato breeding research updates, there will be presentations on pollinator, bioenergy, timber management and phytoremediation projects taking place at the station, and more. Wisconsin Insect Festival – Woodruff

July 29-31, 2022
Kemp Natural Resources Station, 9161 Kemp Road, Woodruff, WI

Fungi Festival – Woodruff

August 26-27, 2022
Kemp Natural Resources Station, 9161 Kemp Road, Woodruff, WI
This festival features a variety of fungi-focused activities and sessions, including beginner-level mushroom identification, fungi collection outings, and much more. UW Organic Agriculture Research Field Day – Arlington

August 30, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

This field day will highlight organic research conducted at UW–Madison, including optimizing equipment and production practices for organic no-till production; interseeding cover crops into corn and soybeans; the impact of organic management on soil health; and weed management for organic hemp production.
