Miller Research Potato Disease Management Seminars

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Miller Research will not be holding its annual Potato Pest Management Meeting. Instead, it will host four hour-long virtual seminars where four different topics related to potato disease management will be discussed. One CCA (integrated pest management) credit and one ISDA pesticide recertification credit has been awarded for each session. Virtual attendees will be required to answer some participation questions in order to get the ISDA credit. Each session will run from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is free.

 Meetings will be held by Zoom, and registration is required separately for each session. To register for each session, click on the appropriate link below. After successfully registering, you will receive a confirmation email that contains the link to log into the session.

Feb. 16: Fusarium dry rot and Rhizoctonia canker and black scurf management

Management options for seed and the harvested crop including seed handling, seed treatment, variety susceptibility and post-harvest fungicides.

Feb. 18: Powdery scab and potato mop-top virus management

Detection in soil, variety susceptibility, management options, and the relationship between the powdery scab organism and the mop-top virus.

Feb. 23: Managing pink rot and Pythium leak

Variety susceptibility and new information on fungicide efficacy, including the effect of interval between application and irrigation and timing of program initiation for phosphite application.

Feb. 25: Foliar disease management and avoiding fungicide resistance

Strengths and weaknesses of different fungicide programs for managing early blight, brown spot, white mold, and late blight. Also guidelines for responsible fungicide use to avoid the development of fungicide resistance.
