Potato stocks in Idaho on Dec. 1 totaled 95 million hundredweight. Disappearance of the Idaho crop to date was 39 million hundredweight.

Dec. 1 potato stocks in Oregon totaled 17.9 million hundredweight. Disappearance to date was 4.78 million hundredweight.

In Washington, Dec. 1 potato stocks totaled 58.5 million hundredweight. Disappearance to date totaled 43 million hundredweight.

Nationally, the major potato states held 267 million hundredweight of potatoes in storage Dec. 1, down 4 percent from December 1, 2018 for comparable states. Potatoes in storage accounted for 63 percent of the states' 2019 production. For comparable states, potatoes in storage accounted for 67 percent of the states’ 2019 production, unchanged from the previous year. Potato disappearance, at 155 million hundredweight, was down 2 percent for comparable states from 2018. Season-to-date shrink and loss was reported as 13.3 million hundredweight.

Processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Ore., used 26.7 million hundredweight of potatoes for the season, up 5 percent from Dec. l, 2018. In Washington and other Oregon counties, 34.7 million hundredweight of potatoes had been used by processors for the season, down 5 percent from the previous year. Processors in the eight major potato-producing states used 76.3 million hundredweight of potatoes for the season, up 3 percent from 2018. Dehydrated usage accounted for 11.9 million hundredweight of the total potatoes processed, down 14 percent from the previous year.
