A recent research study investigated the potential of potato virus X (PVX) as a drug carrier, delivering doxorubicin (DOX)—a commonly used cancer chemotherapy. According to the researchers’ findings, published in the journal Nanoscale, PVX-DOX treatment resulted in reduced tumor growth. The research team concluded that their results open the door for further development of PVX and other high-aspect ratio plant viral nanoparticles (VNPs) for applications in cancer therapy.
