The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) has announced the winners of its Idaho Potato Video Contest. Participants were given a chance to win up to $3,000 by submitting a short video to one of three categories—“MASHED!” (culinary demonstrations), “Anytime/Anywhere” (general potato love), or “At the Truck” (scenes at the Big Idaho Potato Truck).
“Video is fast becoming the preferred medium for news and entertainment,” says Frank Muir, president and CEO of the IPC. “We know there are countless Idaho potato fans across the country, and we wanted to see just how creative they could get in front of the camera. We’re very pleased with the response and are excited to share the winning entries through the IPC’s social media channels.”
Consumers entered any one or all three categories:

  • MASHED! is the IPC’s take on the hit Food Network show Chopped. Entrants recorded themselves creating a potato masterpiece using fresh, frozen and/or dehydrated Idaho potatoes.
  • Anytime/Anywhere is a catch-all category for unique and imaginative entries showing how fans express their love for potatoes.
  • At The Truck is for those who were lucky enough to see the Big Idaho Potato Truck live and in person during the contest period and able to film a short video with it.

The winners include:!

The entries were judged completely on creativity. The grand prize winner of each category received $1,000 and the six runners-up (two in each category) received a swag bag and a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho potatoes. The first 10 online submissions also received a 15-pound box of fresh Idaho potatoes.
The IPC extends a heartfelt thanks to all who entered the contest.
