METS FANS ATTEMPT CHIP WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

The crack of the bat will be supplanted at Citi Field July 10 by a louder, tastier sound as all fans attending that evening's Mets-Reds game are invited to participate in the Big City Crunch, an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most potato chips ever crunched at once.
Every fan entering the Mets' new ballpark for the 7:10 p.m. game will receive a .75-oz. bag of Wise Potato Chips, courtesy of Wise Snacks and the New York Mets. At the designated time, fans will be instructed to open their individual package and, when given the go-ahead, take a big bite of a chip and "crunch!"
Representatives of Guinness World Records will be on hand to record the occasion and, if all necessary criteria are met, shortly thereafter certify that a world record has been set.
"As New York's favorite snack food, it's only natural for us to support one of New York's favorite teams, the New York Mets," said Jolie Weber, Wise Vice President, Brand Marketing. "We developed The Big City Crunch to give Mets fans -- the most vocal and passionate fans in baseball -- a chance to be a part of history...a loud history."
Source Communications, Wise' sports marketing agency, negotiated the multi-year alliance making Wise the Official Potato Chip and Cheez Doodle of the New York Mets. "We were charged with creating an exciting marketing vehicle to increase brand awareness both for Wise Snacks and their Mets sponsorship. We're thrilled to give all Wise and Mets fans a chance to make history this summer," said Larry Rothstein, managing partner of Source Communications.
The Big City Crunch is a consumer promotion complement to a season-long advertising presence at Citi Field, including outfield and LED ads for Wise brands. A New York local print, outdoor, TV and radio advertising campaign promoting the Big City Crunch, featuring Mets shortstop Jose Reyes, began May 18 and will run through the July 10th event.
In addition, Wise brand ambassadors are appearing with a Wise-wrapped promotional van at heavily trafficked sites throughout the metropolitan area during the campaign. The street team is distributing Wise Potato Chips and managing the Wise "Spin the Wheel" promotion in which lucky recipients win Big City Crunch-branded merchandise as well as tickets to the July 10 game.
