USDA: Frozen Potatoes Supply Down Slightly

According to recent data released by the USDA, frozen potatoes in cold storage on Jan. 31, 2024, is down slightly from stocks on Jan. 31, 2023. Then drop is about 8 percent from 2023 to 2024.

On Jan. 31, 2023 there were 1,256,654,000 lbs. of frozen potatoes in cold storage compared to 1,156,642,000 lbs. a year later on Jan. 31, 2024. The 2024 figure is up from Dec. 31, 2023 by 49,482,000 lbs.

Looking at just french fries, the difference between 2023 and 2024 is a 10 percent drop in the number of pounds in cold storage.

The actual figures are detailed in the attached photos. The Pacific region leads the country in frozen potatoes inventory, followed by the Mountain region and the East North Central region.
