The National Young Farmers Coalition (NYFC) has introduced a newly upgraded tool for your digital toolbox: the Finding Farmland Calculator. This decision-making tool, built specifically for farmers seeking land, enables users to:
- Understand farm financing options. Learn about the different ways to finance a farm purchase and build your own farmland purchase scenarios.
- Determine what you can afford. Enter information about your income, assets and liabilities to better understand your loan repayment capacity and creditworthiness.
- Prepare to work with a loan officer. Begin planning for your own real-world land purchase. Compare properties, download your results, and discuss them with a mentor or lender.
The Finding Farmland Calculator—a new version of the beta tool the NYFC released last October—has been created in close consultation with young farmers and service providers to meet the functional and educational needs of farmers considering a land purchase. The NYFC worked with award-winning Fathom Information Design to produce an intuitive, beautiful data visualization tool.
