AgBiome’s Howler fungicide has received registration from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The first product to be marketed by AgBiome Innovations and developed by AgBiome, Inc., Howler is a biological fungicide that is highly effective against fungal diseases common to high-value crops.

Howler effectively combats Botrytis, Colletotrichum, Phytophthora, Pythium and Rhizoctonia in potato, carrot, onion, tomato, strawberry and other high-value crops.

“This is great news for specialty crop growers,” says John Rabby, commercial director at AgBiome Innovations. “Howler provides preventive, long-lasting activity on a broad spectrum of soilborne and foliar diseases, with no special handling or storage required.”

OMRI-listed for use in certified organic production, Howler is exempt from the requirement of tolerances in the U.S. It can be used effectively at every phase of crop production with a zero-day pre-harvest interval and a four-hour, restricted-entry interval.

“Howler fights disease with three modes of action—metabolic, enzymatic and exclusion—by competing with invading pathogens,” says Steve Ronyak, field biology manager for AgBiome. The active ingredient actively destroys pathogenic fungi, stops fungal development and protects plant surfaces.

State registrations are currently pending. For more information, visit agbiome.com/howler.
