New Training Tool Available for Retailers

A new web tool for retailers is designed to ensure that employees working in the produce aisle understand how potatoes get to their stores and what they—and customers—can do to make the most of them.

The U.S. Potato Board (USPB) has developed a set of five training modules for fresh potato associates. The modules include information on harvesting, packing, storage, handling, different potato varieties, nutrition and marketing strategies.

“Not only can training increase sales; proper storage and handling of the potato table will help maintain quality and decrease shrink,” stated a release from the USPB.

The training modules are in video form and include a quiz to be taken after viewing each video. Retailers’ employees can earn certificates showing they have successfully completed the training.
