Cashco ALR-1

With the recent introduction of a new ALR-1 (auxiliary loaded regulator), Cashco customers and clients now have a new regulator option.

The ALR-1 has a back pressure regulator, or unloader, mounted onto it like the previously introduced ULR-1 and PTR-1 valves. However, instead of the inlet pressure feeding into the cover dome, an auxiliary air supply—such as an air compressor—will feed the cover dome.

This product allows customers to either adjust the setting at point of use with an airset or through a control room when mounted with an I/P transducer. The ALR-1 provides excellent performance on applications when set points vary frequently. The unit is an easy and cost-effective replacement for control valves on pressure control applications.

Müller Azmoos Optical Sorting

For years, the Swiss company Müller Azmoos has been a trendsetter when it comes to processing carrots, potatoes, spinach and leeks. Recently, the company expanded its operations to include processing of washed potatoes. This was made possible by Müller Azmoos’s choice of Miedema’s Smart Grader in combination with the Ellips’ True Sort grading and sorting software.

There are, however, also major differences among optical sorters. The Smart Grader is equipped with high-resolution color and infrared cameras, which enables you to see much more of a potato. The information gathered from these images—up to 40 images of each sorted potato—are extremely important to the grading process. Processors need a combination of high-resolution color and infrared images in order to detect blemishes on the potato. Müller Azmoos’s results—from size to weight to quality—are very accurate.

Ellips delivers software to manufacturers of sorting machines and to end users who wish to enhance the grading and sorting capabilities of their existing machines. Thanks to this software, the quality of fruit and vegetables can be graded more effectively, more rapidly and more consistently than by the human eye. Selection based on weight, size, color and internal and external quality has never been so accurate.

Dynamic Systems SIMBA Traceability System

Dynamic Systems, Inc., a software developer specializing in barcode data collection, announces a new, larger touchscreen computer for the SIMBA Food & Produce Traceability System. SIMBA provides fresh food producers the ability to process, label and track their products from field to customer.

Users can increase productivity speed and traceability; the SIMBA (Specialized Inventory Management with Barcode Accuracy) Wash Down Touchscreen provides for use in harsh conditions where water and dust are involved.
SIMBA tracks, labels and ships an unlimited number of products with specific species and characteristics. The upgraded touchscreen allows for rapid processing of different species and varieties. SIMBA Enterprise allows the user to track and organize products by pallet, lot and case. Inventory can be tracked by location, allowing moves from warehouse to warehouse, including repeated commingling and re-boxing at any point in the process without losing lot traceability.

SIMBA also now interfaces directly to any scale that has a digital output to a serial or USB port.  The weight of the carton is automatically added to the database within SIMBA and may be added to the label on the fly. The ability to have this information automatically can save the producer or packer time when processing and packing a high volume of product.

Dieselcraft Technol 246

Tank contamination, also known as “algae,” is a biomass that has formed an agglomeration of micro-organisms in which cells adhere to each other on the surface of a fuel tank or at the fuel water interface. These adherent cells are surrounded by a shield of extra-cellular polymeric substance (EPS). This biomass protects the bacteria from biocides and most other additives.

Dieselcraft offers Technol 246, a problem-specific fuel additive that penetrates and dissolves the biomass rapidly and solves the filter plugging problem. Technol 246 is available in 8-ounce bottles, one-gallon containers with the self-contained tip-and-measure bottle, 5-gallon and 55-gallon containers. Eight ounces will treat up to 275 gallons, where a gallon will treat up to 4,000 gallons. The typical treat rate cost is 2 cents per treated gallon of fuel.

Kuhn Krause Dominator 4855

The Kuhn Krause Dominator established an industry standard for a primary tillage product, designed to reduce subsoil compaction, provide residue management and maintain a level field finish. In an effort to continually improve product performance and meet or exceed customer expectations, Kuhn Krause is pleased to announce the new Dominator 4855.

Available in seven-, nine-, 11- and 13-shank configurations, the Dominator 4855 continues to incorporate a proven five-step system for residue management but will incorporate several additional product improvements, generated from customer and dealer feedback. With a focus on serviceability and productivity with minimal down-time, 2 ¾-inch diameter slip-in spindles and eight-bolt wheel hubs (rated at 10,000 pounds each) are used on all walking beam weldments. A new, larger tire maintains flotation capabilities while increasing the weight capacity by 2,200 pounds per tire to improve transport reliability. Hardened bushings and heat-treated pins replace grease zerks and standard pivot pins in the parallel mount for the rear disc conditioner’s lower links, eliminating the need for daily grease maintenance at that point.

A new angular contact bearing cartridge has been incorporated into each rear disc conditioner blade assembly, utilizing a heavyduty bearing seal and a machined hub spindle. A skid wear guard adds extra protection to the new machined cast bearing housing. Each disc conditioner blade is secured to the hub spindle and bearing assembly with a five-bolt blade pattern, which make changing blades quick and simple.

Bayer Sivanto Insecticide

Bayer CropScience announces that Sivanto insecticide has received EPA registration and is available for the 2015 growing season.

Sivanto precisely targets key damaging pests at multiple insect life stages—delivering rapid knockdown of sucking pests while helping safeguard beneficial insects—to prevent damage to plants and help minimize the spread of diseases from insect carriers.

With flexible application timings and compatibility with many beneficial insects and predatory mites, Sivanto works safely, effectively and precisely to preserve the overall health of plants and protect growers’ investment in their crops.

The discovery of Sivanto was primarily inspired by the natural compound stemofoline, a derivative from the plant Stemona japonica. Sivanto is the first member of a new chemical class of insecticides, the butenolides (newly created IRAC subgroup 4D) and has shown excellent control of neonicotinoid-resistant aphids and whiteflies in U.S. field trials. It is registered on a broad range of horticulture crops and most broadacre crops, including citrus, pome fruit, grapes, bush berries, tree nuts (not including almonds), potatoes, vegetables, alfalfa, cotton, sorghum and several specialty crops (such as blueberry and clover from IR-4), which allows for inclusive and flexible crop rotation programs. Sivanto can be applied as a foliar spray or as a soil drench, shank or drip application, depending on the crop, allowing growers maximum flexibility with their crop protection tools.

More information on application methods for each crop is included in the product label.

Senninger UP3 Dual Nozzle Fitting

Senninger Irrigation, a global leader in agricultural irrigation manufacturing, is pleased to announce the release of the new UP3 dual nozzle fitting.

The UP3 dual nozzle fitting makes re-nozzling during the season a quick, tool-free experience. It replaces the regular barb fitting on hose drops and gives growers the ability to house two additional UP3 snapin nozzles on each drop. Growers who experience frequent drops in well capacity and who need an extra nozzle to irrigate winter crops, or those who just prefer to tailor-manage their resources, will now find it easier to change their flows as needed.

Coupled with Senninger’s UP3 nozzle technology, the barb fitting greatly simplifies re-nozzling. Just pinch and pull to remove a nozzle from the carrier or the sprinkler and switch it with another. There is no need to disassemble the sprinkler and no need to carry extra nozzles into the field. The dual nozzle fitting is currently not recommended for in-canopy installations.
