The Idaho Potato Commission has appointed two new leaders and reappointed another.
Randy Hardy of Hardy Farms in Oakley, Idaho, and Nick Blanksma, a Hammett, Idaho, grower, are scheduled to be formally sworn in at the Eagle-based organization’s October meeting.
Mike Christensen of Melba, Idaho, returns to the board for another term, according to a news release.
“Randy and Nick are well-respected leaders in the industry, and Mike has provided tremendous support and insight during his first term,” Frank Muir, the commission’s president and CEO, said in the release. “I look forward to working with these gentlemen and the other six commissioners in this new fiscal year.”
The current president of the Washington, D.C.-based National Potato Council, Hardy has been involved in other industry organizations. He was on the Denver-based U.S. Potato Board in a variety of capacities including as the 2006-07 chairman.
A fourth-generation grower, Blanksma is the youngest person to ever serve as a commissioner, according to the release.
Member terms are three years.
Industry peers nominated the commissioners and Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter made the final selections, according to the release.
Christensen previously served one term.
