Potato growers across the northern tier of the United States are wondering if uncertain weather will play a role in this year's harvest.

This morning temperatures dipped into the lower 30s in most of the eastern Idaho growing areas. The week's forecast calls for more below-freezing weather. Tomorrow morning temperatures are forecast to dip into the high 20s.

The NOAA reports that the United States had the 16th coolest summer on record. August was the 7th coolest on record in the United States. Minnesota chalked up its coldest month of August on record.

Forecasts call for more wet weather for the Upper Great Plains this week, probably leading to some harvest delays in North Dakota and Minnesota.
