Pa. Field Meeting Set for Sept. 20

A twilight potato field meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Country View Farm in Danielsville, Pa.

The meeting is being organized by Pennsylvania Co-operative Potato Growers, Inc. and the Lehigh Valley Potato Growers Association in cooperation with Pennsylvania State University Extension.

Attendees will review the Penn State demonstration potato variety trial in the field just east of the farm and discuss varieties with Mike Peck from Penn State’s plant pathology and environmental microbiology department.

Bob Leiby of the Co-operative Potato Growers will talk about managing pests; Dwane Miller, an extension educator in Schuylkill County, will talk about finding and understanding information on pesticide labels. Other topics will include genetically engineered potatoes, using drones to monitor potato fields, and 2017 potato seed.
