For over 25 years, Nelson Irrigation Corporation has perfected the sleeve-style valve with the continued development of the 800 Series control valve product line. Known worldwide for their hydraulic efficiency and high performance, Nelson’s 800 Series valves are used in a variety of applications under demanding conditions in agricultural and environment control systems. In October 2010, Nelson engineers launched a research and development project to develop the next generation of sleeve-style valves. They aimed at addressing critical irrigation issues and raising the bar for valve performance; the result is the new 1000 Series.

New 1000 Series valves save energy with higher flow capacity and lower friction loss—better than any other valve on the market. They also have more precise and stable pressure regulation over a wider range of flow and with minimal pressure differential required across the valve.

A modular design provides ultimate flexibility in valve style and connection type while simplifying installation, troubleshooting and maintenance—great for the grower, installer and system designer.

Choose from 3 different flow path options: inline, tee and elbow. Choose from five inlet/outlet styles:

  • Proprietary Nelson Flex-Connect ends—interchangeable design allows for mixing and matching ends.
    • 1 ¼-, 1 ½-, and 2-inch npt or bsp
    • 3-inch splined connection
    • 2- and 3-inch Victaulic
  • Wafer Style
    • 2-inch ANSI flange
    • 2- × 3-inch flange adapters—allow installing a 2-inch valve directly between 3-inch flanges.

The Flex-Connect approach allows for mixing and matching ends. For example, on an inline valve operators can choose a 3-inch Victaulic inlet and a 2-inch Victaulic outlet. Nelson valve sizes should be selected based on flow needs as opposed to pipe sizes. Because of the high level of efficiency it is common to select a 2-inch valve when using 3-icnh pipe.

1000 Series valve applications include zone control for sprinkler or drip irrigated row crops, nursery crops, orchards and vineyards. The valve fits perfectly under a Big Gun for solid-set irrigation, end-of-pivot solutions and a variety of environmental controls including fire suppression, dust suppression and cooling.
