PNW Potato Crop $1.98 Billion for 2013

The final value of Idaho's 2013 potato crop was $1.02 billion, up 2 percent from 2012. The marketing year average price for potatoes in Idaho was $7.75 per cwt., up $0.70 from last year.

In Oregon, the 2013 potato crop was valued at $189 million, up 4 percent from last year. The all-potato price was $8.75 per cwt., up $0.85 from last year. Washington's 2013 potato crop was valued at $792 million, up 13 percent from 2012. The marketing year average price for all potatoes was $8.25 per cwt., up $0.95 from the previous year.

In Idaho, fall potato production for 2013 totaled 131 million cwt. In Oregon, production was 21.6 million cwt. Production in Washington was 96.0 million cwt. The combined production for the three states was 63 percent of U.S. fall potato production in 2013.

Processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Ore., used a total of 85.3 million cwt. in 2013, down 5 percent from 2012. Washington and Oregon (excluding Malheur County) processors used 80.7 million cwt. during 2013, up slightly from last year.
