On September 20th, 2014, the residents of Eagle Idaho intend to set a new Guinness World Record for pounds of French fries served. The present record is held by Essex, United Kingdoms, at 987 pounds, 10 ounces. The judging will commence at 1:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Farms as part of other festivities occurring that day, including, but not limited to, a 5.2-mile mud run obstacle course constructed by local landscape architect Jeff Smith. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to The Man Up Crusade™ and the Eagle Firefighter’s Burn Out Fund.

Twin Oaks Farms was inspired to host the event due to the proximity to the Idaho Potato Commission and good old-fashion hometown pride. Smith felt that it was important for the world record to be held by a community that was devoted to the potato as a major resource of the local economy and to further such causes as to raise an awareness of domestic violence and generate funds in local communities for victims and families who have been affected by these issues and to help families rebuild their lives after the devastating tragedies that are brought on by house fires.

In the interest of promoting community spirit and family fun, Smith used one of his preexisting creations, a large stepped pyramid, to construct a giant slide into a pit of mashed potatoes, as a highlight of the obstacle course, which also includes log and water hazards. The Tater Dash Mud Run promises to be an exciting event that will be remembered for years to come. Those interested in registering can do so at www.TaterDash.com
