ANN ARBOR RBOR , Mich. — FarmLogs co-founder and CEO Jesse Vollmar was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the top “30 Under 30” in the energy and industry category. The Caro, Mich., native and Saginaw Valley State University alum co-founded FarmLogs in 2011 with Brad Koch.
Vollmar grew up on his family’s fifth-generation organic row crop farm in Caro, Mich., and started an IT consulting business with his classmate Brad Koch while still in high school. Under his leadership while still a full-time high school and college student, the business grew from $1,500 in the bank and zero revenue to over $350,000 annual revenue and five employees in five years. After working with many farmers who were frustrated with the technology available, the team decided to develop software just for farmers. In less than two years, the company has expanded beyond web to mobile and has found its software being used by thousands of commercial farms spread throughout all 50 states and in 121 countries.
Forbes editors and reporters worked with panels of expert judges to select the field’s brightest stars under the age of 30. The magazine described its choices as prodigies “reinventing the world right now.”
