The United States Potato Board's vice president of domestic marketing, Kathleen Triou, announced June 12 she's leaving her position to rejoin the organization's former president and chief executive officer, Tim O'Connor, on the staff of a new organization dedicated to marketing Mexican avocados.

O'Connor became CEO of Avocados from Mexico on April 1. Triou will serve as chief marketing officer of the avocado organization beginning July 1.

She's served with USPB for five years.

In an email, Triou emphasized she's enjoyed working to promote a commodity with a mature market and believes numbers are moving in a good direction. She said she's now eager to work on promoting a commodity with an emerging market.

"It's important you know that not only did Tim not recruit me, I think he was a bit surprised when I approached him. But approach him I did because I love what I do, and I want to continue learning and trying more things in the commodity marketing profession," Triou wrote in the email.
