MOSCOW, Idaho-John Foltz has been selected to serve as the interim dean of the University of Idaho's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Foltz has served as associate dean and director of Academic Programs in the College.

"John has a broad understanding of the college, its people and its mission, which will be vital in making the transition to a new dean," M. Duane Nellis, president of the University of Idaho, said in a press release.

Foltz succeeds John Hammel, who stepped down as dean after leading the college for more than nine years. The university will begin a national search to identify candidates for consideration as the university's next permanent College of Agricultural and Life Sciences dean.

Nominations for national search committee participation should be sent to stoutm@uidaho.edu by close of business, Jan. 7.
