DENVER-Growers are formally invited to the Potato Association of America Annual Meeting, Aug. 12-16, at the Crowne Plaza DIA in Denver, Colo., especially for a special growers' day Monday, Aug. 13.
The morning will begin with a symposium on `Potato Phosphorus Management and Utilization for Today and Tomorrow,' featuring some of the big names in Phosphorus work, including Keith Kelling and Matt Ruark from Wisconsin, Carl Rosen from Minnesota, Mike Thornton from Idaho, Brian Hopkins from Utah and P.E. Fixen from the International Plant Nutrition Institute in South Dakota. They will cover a variety of topics related to Phosphorus management and its impact on the plant and the environment.
Following the morning session, there will be a series of short talks put forth during an industry session related to a number of topics including potato diseases (powdery scab, pink rot, late blight, PVY, zebra chip); fertilizer usage; storage monitoring techniques; temperature stress; and USDA GAP/GHP programs. This is a unique opportunity to meet and greet many of the major potato scientists in North America and to hear some great presentations especially related to potatoes.
