US POTATO PROCESSING UP IN OCTOBER

Processors in Idaho and Malheur County, Ore., used 7.49-million cwt of raw potatoes during October, an increase of 6 percent from last October.

Accumulated processing of 2011 crop raw potatoes to November 1 was 20.5-million cwt, up 40 percent from last year.

Idaho potatoes accounted for 16.1-million cwt of the total processed, up 54 percent from last year. The remaining 4.39-million cwt were produced in other states.

Processors in Washington and Other Oregon Counties have used 24.2-million cwt of 2011 crop raw potatoes to November 1, up 16 percent from last year.
