CPB BEGINNING TO EMERGE

Bill Buhrig from the UI Parma Research and Extension Center is reporting that overwintering Colorado Potato Beetle adults are beginning to emerge in southwest Idaho.
 
This overwintering adult stage does not do much damage; however, females are beginning to lay eggs in potato fields. We could see the damaging larvae appear in about 7 to 10 days depending on temperatures. This is the time for growers to be scouting for CPB, especially if they are using "soft" foliar insecticides that target control of early instar larvae.
