DESHLER, Neb.-Rain for Rent, a Reinke mechanized irrigation dealership based in Paul, Idaho, hosted an African delegation on August 4 as part of the United States Trade and Development Agency's (USTDA) Sub-Saharan Africa food Security Technologies Reverse Trade Mission. Ten public and private sector representatives from sub-Saharan Africa's agribusiness sector, including Reinke's African representative Yair Atia, visited Rain for Rent to obtain a better understanding of agricultural technologies, equipment and techniques for use within their own countries and communities.
During the visit, delegates toured Rain for Rent's industrial division and took a trip to local producer Orlo Maughn's potato farm where they learned about Maughn's use of Reinke center pivot irrigation equipment. Demonstrations from Rain for Rent salesman Skip Hylton included the latest in irrigation technology advancements with Reinke's RPM Touchscreen Panel. (The new panel is a first for the industry, providing producers with immediate access for programming end guns, phase converters, chemical pumps, well pumps and auxiliaries, along with a variety of other customization capabilities.)
Delegates finished their tour with digging potatoes from Maughn's field to take with along with them.
The Reverse Trade Mission visited Paul and a number of other U.S. cities from August 2-13. Visiting delegates represented the countries of Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa, Angola, Kenya and Tanzania as part of the USTDA-sponsored event.
