The Idaho Potato Commission received top honors from trade magazine Produce Business when it was awarded the 2009 Marketing Excellence Award. The promotional items used to support the IPC's comic book-themed campaign were recognized among the best and most creative marketing initiatives executed by vendors and support organizations within the produce industry.
The comic book series is a break-through advertising campaign for the industry, featuring superhero produce retailers who save the day by stocking Idaho potatoes. "There's no doubt the advertisements are eye-catching. However, the most unique part of the campaign is actually bringing the characters to life in clever and amusing ways that immediately remind retailers of the selling power of Idaho potatoes," said Seth Pemsler, VP Retail/International, IPC. "We are thrilled that our promotional materials that support the print ads have been recognized, and we're definitely looking forward to having even more fun with the campaign next year."
