POTATO CHIP SALES POP WITH RECESSION

A new report from market research firm Mintel shows that after years of mediocre sales increases, the potato chip market grew 22 percent during the economic downturn. FLEXNEWS, Sept. 28, 2009. It's not just chips that saw a sales spike, however. The tortilla chip market expanded 18 percent over 2007, while popcorn went up 17 percent and cheese snacks 20 percent.
