UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN NAMES AWARDS GROWER

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls names veteran potato grower James Wysocki as its 2009 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist. The university's College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences selected Wysocki because of his contribution to the growth and success of Wisconsin agriculture.

Wysocki is chief financial officer of Wysocki Produce Farm Inc. and Russet Potato Exchange and has spent more than 25 years in the family's potato, onion and dairy business.

Bancroft, Wis.-based Russet Potato Exchange is the marketing arm for the farm.

He is a board member of the National Potato Council where he was president in 2006 and is a member of the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association where he was president in 2001.
