RACINE, Wis.-Case IH Early Riser planters were voted for the second year in a row by readers of No-Till Farmer as the No-Till Product of the Year in the equipment category.
No-tillers voted for the Case IH Early Riser planter system because it makes the most use of the planting window. According to No-Till Farmer, "Case IH Early Riser planters have the industry's largest bulk-fill seed hopper for fewer fills and a vacuum seed metering system that accurately distributes seed-even at faster than normal planting speeds."
No-Till Farmer noted that the Early Riser row units and the seed metering system provide uniform and consistent seed spacing, superior depth control and excellent seed-to-soil contact for earlier, more even emergence and higher yield potential.
"Early Riser planters give growers the best of both worlds," says Alan Forbes, Case IH planter marketing manager. "They have the best row unit to get the crop out of the ground early and even. The Case IH Early Riser planters are designed to maximize productivity with models, such as the 1250, which offers a 60-foot planting width and 24-row units to cover more ground in less time.
Yet, transport between fields is easy with a front-fold width of just 11 feet, 11 inches. This design means more time spent planting when conditions are right.
No-Till Farmer readers were asked to nominate products that made the greatest impact on their no-till program in 2008 in 11 product categories. Readers were then asked to select up to one product in each category as the best of that group. Winning products were announced during the 17th annual National No-Tillage Conference in Indianapolis, Ind.

"These companies really ought to consider these awards high praise considering they are coming from an innovative segment of the farming community."
