Growers in the state on the border with Bangladesh reports the disease has affected 35 percent of the crops.

A harvest of between 130,000 and 140,000 tons of potato is expected, down from more than 210,000 tons last year.

The size of the crop has also been impacted with the area planted down some 12,350 acres from last year. A tough winter has also reduced yield.
