ANTIGO, WI--Volm Companies has completed the acquisition of all assets of Columbia Packaging and Distribution for an undisclosed amount effective January 31, 2007.

"Columbia has been a valued distributor for Volm in the Washington, Oregon and Northern California region for many years," said Benjamin Feinn, CEO of Volm. "The Columbia operation will be rolled directly into Volm. Columbia will not be a separate company operated by Volm but will instead operate as part of Volm Companies.

"Volm and Columbia share many of the same company values and expect to see a respectful and cooperative exchange of ideas and systems among the employees of both companies. I am excited about this acquisition as it will allow the combined power of the people of both companies to expand the reach of the current day Columbia while enhancing the ability of Volm to further service the fresh produce markets."

The Columbia acquisition represents the second acquisition for Volm in less than a year. Volm has been in operation for 54 years and is still a family owned company.

The company's principal business is in the fresh produce industry supplying various forms of packaging both internally manufactured and purchased. In addition, the company designs and manufactures complex packing and weighing equipment for the produce industry as well as operating a business in the environmental control industry.
