Interest is high for Wednesday's meeting in Idaho Falls, ID, by growers and shippers interested in forming a marketing cooperative.

The meeting will start at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Shiloh Inn Convention Center on Lindsay Blvd.

The meeting will be closed to the media and non-growers. However, a press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Albert Wada, president of Wada Farms, Inc., has arranged the meeting in an effort to bolster fresh market prices for growers and shippers.

Prices have been below the cost of production for several years, driving many growers out of business. Retailers are using potatoes as a low-cost leader in advertising. These and many other reasons are making the co-op formation effort one of great importance for Idaho as well as for growers in other fresh-marketing states.
