Over 4.8 million pounds of United States dehydrated potato flakes has been purchased under the FY04 McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition programs.

The United States Potato Board made the announcement, adding that the shipment was going to Moldodva.

The International Food Assistance Initiative is funded by the USPB and several state grower organizations. It works on behalf of the U.S. potato industry to expand the use of dehy in international food-aid programs.

Over the past four years it has introduced dehyrated potato products to almost one million new consumers in 13 countries worldwide.

Since 2001, the government has purchased a total of 16.2 million pounds equaling 1,136,520 cwt of fresh potatoes. for food aid programs.
