Idaho Theme: 'Rising to the Challenge!'

Potato Growers of  Idaho's annual meeting will have as its theme, "Rising to the Challenge," for the December 14-15 event set for the Red Lion Inn in Pocatello, ID.

President Doug Hanks, St. Anthony, ID, grower, says the object will be to look at the breaking developments in the industry and to make plans of action. They will include:
--Growing potatoes under new programs like CSP and CREP.
--Growing a portfolio of potato products.
--Marketing under current and future conditions.
--and, addressing whatever challenges are anticipated for the industry in the 21st century.

The annual meetings brings growers from across the state together to hear reports from their officers, get updates on current topics, and discuss pending issues. There will be featured speakers.

In connection with the meetings, break-out sessions will be for seed growers and process growers. They will be closed to the public.

An annual highlight of the meeting is the annoucement of the Grower of the Year and Seed Grower of the Year awards sponsored by Potato Grower magazine. These two growers and their families will be honored and presented plaques.

A note should be made that dates for the meeting have been moved ahead one day from the originally scheduled and announced Dec. 15-16.
