Seed shipments are down from last year, according to the May 21 report of the Idaho and Eastern Oregon Potato Committee Manager's Report.

The report shows that 4,705,600 cwt was shipped to Idaho growers this year as compared to the 5,156,300 cwt shipped last year to that date.

Seed shipped out of state totaled 1,649,300 cwt this year, compared to 1,983,200 last year.

While seed growers say sales are over and some seed growers are left with unsold seed, there are rumors that some late potatoes are being planted in southwestern Idaho. PGI says it has no knowledge of potatoes being planted in southwestern Idaho this late in the season.
