U.S. Makes Dehy Comeback In Japan

One-hundred-and-fifty Japanese traders attended a United States Potato Board hosted seminar and product showcase focusing on dehy potato products February 5.

The event was an attempt by U.S. procesors to regain lost market share over the past few years. It marks a turn-around for the dehy market after setbacks for various problems over the past few years.

Mark Dries of the Agricultural Trade Office in Tokyo gave a kickoff speech.
Dick Okray, USPB International Chairman, also spoke. Presentations were also made by the USPB staff.

The processors who attended include: Lamb-Weston, Simplot, McCain, Logan International, Rite Stuff, Reser's Fine Foods, Basic American Foods, Idaho Pacific, Idaho Supreme, Jones Produce Dehy, Nonpareil, RDO Foods/.US Foods, and Oregon Freeze Dry.
