A teleconference planned for November 20 will help fresh-cut produce companies and their suppliers prepare to comply with new U.S. Food and Drug Administration rules mandated by the Bioterrorism Act of 2002.

Interim final rules for both Registration of Food Facilities and Prior Notice of Importer Food Shipments will go into effect December 12. By that date all affected food facilities must register with the FDA and all affected food importers must begin providing prior notice of Imported food shipments to the agency.

The teleconference will begin at 9 a.m. (MST) and will last about 90 minutes. During the connection, Mel Drozen and Susan Key of Keller and Heckman LLP, IFPA's legal counsel, will make comments.

Those who wish to participate must register at the IFPA's web site at http://www.fresh-cuts.org/files/bioterrorism%flyer.pdf. There is a registration fee of $75.
