Harvest is getting under way in earnest this week in Canada's Maritime provinces as growers let the crop grow a little longer than normal to try to get some bulking.

Growers say that although it is getting late, they want some size to a crop that was hit by the remains of hurricane Juan a few weeks ago.

The storm did not hurt the potato crop, it is reported. After the storm the area got tropical, sunny weather for the past few weeks. Growers say it would have been too hot to start harvesting at that time.
