Potato growers in eastern Oregon and western Idaho are starting to feel the pressure of protecting their potato crops from leaf roll virus.

Aphids, particularly the green peach aphid, vector the virus.

Counts being made through the Treasure Valley show populations building. Southwestern Idaho growers have yet to see the numbers being seen in the Treasure Valley.

A Pest Alert System is now in place so all a grower has to do is join the mail list provided by the Oregon State University and University of Idaho site. The site is www.tvpestalert.net.
