Included in the House of Representatives' Agriculture Appropriations Bill will be over $2 million for potato research.

The planned appropriation includes $1.574 million for a nationwide potato research program with several universities and the ARS involved.

Others include $150,000 for potato breeding efforts at the University of Idaho's Aberdeen Research and Extension Center and $250,000 for the molecular biology component of potato research also for Aberdeen.

The Ag Appropriations bill will now go to a conference committee where differences between the House and Senate bills will be worked out.
