>BASF announced today the registration of a new potato fungicide Endura. This helps continue the company's tradition in the fungicide market for a variety of crops.

Endura was granted a Section 3 registration from the EPA, paving the way for the product's introduction in 2004. Registration in a number of states, including California, is expected over the next few months.

Along with Endura's registration was another the company received for Pristine, which is used for grapes, stone fruits and almonds.

Endura is considered the new benchmark for early blight with superior and longer lasting Sclerotinia control, Jan Buberi, fungicide-marketing manager for fungicides, said.

"I don't think it's possible to overstate the importance of an all-new mode of action for growers," Buberi said. "A new mode of action not only gives growers in these markets a tool they haven't had before, but extends the life of the tools they currently have."
