Idaho seed potato sales have been strong this marketing season.
Figures released by the Idaho and Eastern Oregon Potato Committee with the manager’s report show that as of May 9, 6,407,100 cwt have been sold. This compares to last year’s total to that date of 6,495,000.
This year’s total is just under last year’s at 87,900 cwt.
In-state sales have totaled 4,544,700 as compared to last year’s total to date of 4,661,400. This is a difference of 116,700 cwt.
Out-of-state sales total 1,862,400 compared to last year’s 1,833,600, a difference of 28,800 cwt.
Many Idaho growers have been advertising seed lots for sale. Most of these have been small lots, but total an estimated 2,500 cwt (at least through Potato Growers of Idaho seed listings.)
