Idaho’s irrigation water supply improved slightly during the month of April.

As of the Idaho Agricultural Statistics Service report on April 27, 71 percent of Idaho water supplies were in fair to very poor condition. At the first of the month the figure was at 76 percent fair to very poor.

However, the good news for most potato-growing areas was a storm system that left significant amounts of moisture to help topsoil conditions. The IASS said soil conditions had improved to 95 percent adequate to very short.

Nice rain storms during the last few days of April, although spotty, left smiles on many growers’ faces in southern and eastern Idaho.
