According to the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association the state’s potato grower have lost about 7 percent of this year’s crop.

Storage disease problems have taken a toll in the last five years, responsible for driving about 20 percent of the state’s growers to give up on the crop.

June rains added to the problem, washing out about 7 percent—or 5,000-to-6,000 acres—of the estimated 80,000 acres.
