In order to complete a merger with Aventis CropScience, Bayer AG must proceed with a divestiture of certain products.

In Canada Acetamiprid. a pesticide used on fruits and vegetables, will be given up along with grain and seed-treatment products.

The same remedies to competitive concerns are being made in the United States to complete the transition.

Canada’s Competition Tribunal said the decision would ensure competitive prices for growers.

Bayer CropScience-Canada will be headquartered in Calgary. Bill Buckner, previously vice president and general manager of Bayer’s Agriculture Division in Canada will head the company.
