Work is still ongoing in the merger of Idahoan Foods of Lewisville, ID, with Magic Valley Foods Inc., and Magic West Inc., of Rupert and Glenns Ferry, ID.
The merger, when complete, will form one of the world’s largest dehydrated potato companies.
Already, the 42-year-old Idahoan Foods is recognized as one of the leading potato flake manufacturers in the United States. It ships product around the world.
Magic Valley Foods manufactures dehydrated products and individually quick-frozen potatoes. The agreement, according to Idahoan Foods President and CEO Ray Clement includes all the assets, plants, trade names and web site of Magic Valley.
The addition of Magic Valley and Magic West will enable the company to fortify its institutional and industry business. It will add such labels as Mr. Spud, Idaho Naturally and several private labels.
“With this acquisition, we will be able to expand into other segments within the potato arena,” Clement said.
The Rupert plant can produce about 30 million pounds of dehy potato flakes annually while Magic West can produce about 48 million pounds of dehy and frozen combined.
“With the addition of the Magic Valley’s plants, we can now expand our customer base,” noted Clement. “We’re also excited about Magic West’s frozen products. It, too, adds a new dimension to our portfolio of products.” Idahoan manufacturers and packages products in 183 configurations.
