Nominations for handler positions in District 2 of the Idaho-Eastern Oregon Potato Committee will be held at 3 p.m. on March 23, 2017, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Idaho Falls, Idaho in conjunction with the Idaho Grower Shippers Association board meeting. These are two-year positions beginning June 1, 2017, and ending May 31, 2019.
Handler positions expiring May 31 are Eric Wahlen, with Ryan Bybee as his alternate.
Nominations for producer positions in Districts 1 and 3 of the Idaho-Eastern Oregon Potato Committee will be held at on March 24, 2017, at 10 a.m. during a conference call meeting. These are also two-year positions beginning June 1, 2017, and ending May 31, 2019.
Producer positions expiring May 31 are Joe Ashton and Richard Poteet, with Jaren Raybould and Von Gibby as alternates.
The industry-initiated program was established in 1941 by the USDA. The industry-funded program establishes mandatory quality and inspection requirements for fresh potatoes from Malheur County, Ore., and designated counties in Idaho. The USDA oversees committee activities to ensure fiscal responsibility, program efficiency and fair treatment of industry stakeholders.
