2013 Wisc. Potato Production Figures

Wisconsin potato production in 2013 totaled 26.0 million cwt., down 3.4 million cwt. from the year before, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The agency says state potato growers planted 62,500 acres last year, down 2,000 acres from 2012. Harvested acres in 2013 were reported at 62,000, also down 2,000 acres from the previous year.

Average yield per acre was also lower from 460 cwt. in 2012 to 420 cwt. in 2013. But prices increased to $10.40 from the previous year's $8.70 per cwt.

Total value of production of the Wisconsin potato crop was up from $256.1 million in 2012 to $270.8 million in 2013.
