Bobcat Tier 4 500 Loaders
Bobcat Company has released its first Tier 4 loaders, including a non-diesel particulate filter (DPF) engine solution. The seven medium-sized machines make up the most popular size class in the Bobcat loader family and provide operators with all of the same performance benefits of the previous interim Tier 4 models.
The Tier 4 Bobcat non-DPF solution was achieved by designing an ultra-low particulate combustion (ULPC) engine. The ULPC is accomplished through a specially designed engine combustion chamber that significantly reduces the amounts of particulate matter created during combustion.
The new engines used in 500 frame-size loaders will also have a 4 to 12 percent increase in torque. This increase in torque is produced over a wide range of engine rpm, allowing operators of all skill levels to better utilize the machines’ maximum performance.
The S510, S550 and T550 feature a radius lift path, providing operators the reach and visibility they require for dumping over a wall, backfilling or loading flatbed trucks. The S530, S570, S590 and T590 models feature a vertical lift path, providing operators the ability to lift heavier loads higher, making it easier to clear high-sided truck boxes and hoppers, as well as placing pallets.
Another new feature of the skid-steer and compact track loader line is cold weather protection. Anytime the engine temperature is too low, the loader will temporarily limit the maximum engine speed (rpm) to prevent premature component wear or failure.
Whether crop production calls for fertilizer, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides, chemigation has become a quick and cost-effective method of applying the product. Even if the crop is too tall for a mechanical sprayer, a producer can still provide a timely application through the irrigation system. If only finding the appropriate injection pump was as easy.
Fortunately, Agri-Inject has greatly simplified that process with its new “Apply Yourself” app that is appropriate for a wide range of industries, including virtually any agricultural market. Available in versions for both Android and iOS devices, the “Apply Yourself” app is designed to take the complication and guesswork out of selecting and calibrating an injection pump for virtually any type of application.
“Apply Yourself” comes pre-loaded with specifications and photos of every injection pump available from Agri-Inject. This app also allows a grower to enter the specific data points about his application via five simple sizing questions including field size, irrigation timing, injected liquid type and rate, and obtain and output a ranked list of the best pumps that fit that application.
The free app works with all metric and English units and producers can even use both units of measure. For example, a farmer may enter the field size in acres, the application rate in ounces per 100 square meters and the pressure in BAR. “Apply Yourself” automatically performs all of the conversions to make the proper recommendations.

SafeGuard is an electronic liquid blockage monitoring system that instantly detects liquid blockages and alerts the operator with an audible alarm and visual display of the blocked row’s number. SafeGuard brings real-time blockage monitoring into the cab. Individual sensors monitor each row and are mounted to suit the needs of the operator as the rows are being monitored, without the need to be seen.
Traditional visual ball monitors are difficult to see because they are typically mounted behind the operator. This makes them hard to see at night or in dusty conditions, and they cannot be seen when using cloudy or dark liquids. The agricultural industry has determined that row blockage monitor systems are a requirement for starter fertilizer and fumigant applications, and the operator must be able to monitor that there is liquid flow to each row to achieve the top return. SafeGuard provides this instant blockage notification.

This exclusive Potato Grower buyer’s guide features some of the newest and best irrigation products on the market today.
Innovative Boom Technology
The Hose Boom is quickly becoming the industry standard throughout the world. Working closely with Nelson Irrigation and utilizing the Part-Circle Rotator, IACO has created a Dry Wheel Track Solution that some growers have come to insist when installing new pivots.
Installing part-circle rotators on Hose Booms minimizes wheel tracking issues and maximizes the effectiveness of part-circle sprinklers. The IACO Hose Boom is the only Boomback recommended by Nelson for use with the part-circle rotator.
The concept of Innovative Boom Technology is simple and the results dramatic. By using IACO Boombacks to spread the water out near the end of a pivot, growers lower the instantaneous application rate, allowing the soil to make full use of the water being applied.
No matter what crop, soil type, sprinkler or price point, IACO has a Boomback to meet growers’ needs.
The R55A end-of-pivot sprinkler is changing the way farmers irrigate with center pivots. It can be used to pick up added acreage both throughout the full revolution of the pivot or only in corners.
It can be used in conjunction with a higher volume Big Gun sprinkler or on its own. The R55A is to be mounted in an upright position at the end of the overhang. It can always remain on, turn on via a solenoid on an 800 series valve or work under the logic of a linked control system with a SR100/800P valve or SRNV100 nozzle valve.
Optimized wind-fighting droplets project out far, while gentler droplets fall in near. Water hitting the plate drives the rotation while the rotator brake maintains a uniform speed.
Performance is 40 to 50 feet at 15 to 30 psi. Six to eight irrigated acres are typically added to a quarter-mile pivot when the R55A irrigates full-circle; five to six extra acres are irrigated when used only on corners.
This one-of-a-kind soil probe offers the benefits of a closed-end soil probe, but the hinged jaw quickly transforms the unit into an open-ended probe. This provides easy access to the entire soil core. A side foot-peg allows the user to easily step the probe into the ground.
The Gator Probe is ideal for composite sampling or field extraction of representative cores for subsequent analysis by a soil lab.
