GRAND FORKS, N.D.-Black Gold, a multi-state potato production and sales organization headquartered in Grand Forks, N.D., with additional packing capabilities in Arbyrd, Mo., announces its recent acquisition of Preston Produce, Randall Preston's potato packing facility in Pearsall, Texas this spring. Black Gold will also partner with Gary Boyd, an experienced local potato producer.
The Texas market is not new to Black Gold.
"Our experience growing potatoes in the Pearsall area for nearly 20 years, as well as the partnership with an excellent potato grower like Boyd will allow us to share in our expertise of agronomy practices, as well as utilize economies of scale. We have also learned a great deal with the current packing facility in Arbyrd, Mo., and now this acquisition and partnership will provide us with a great opportunity to be a major Texas supplier of table stock potatoes," states Eric Halverson, VP of Technology for Black Gold.
